America's 250th celebration of my Revolutionary War ancestors

Spirit of '76 by Archibald Willard

It's America's 250th Birthday this year.  In honor of my ancestors who fought in the American Revolutionary War for Independence.  I wanted to make a list of those who fought and served.  I did find it strange that in my direct line of male Smith ancestors, the first ancestor who actually served during a war was my grandfather, Donald Clifford Smith during World War I.  I have no direct Smith ancestor who served in the Revolutionary War, War of 1812 or the Civil War.   I have cousins who served in the military since World War II, it seems that age wise during these conflicts, my Smith ancestors were either too old to serve or too young.  Neither the less, I have many other ancestors who fought for Independence either serving months or years.
